Young men who get mad and resentful and storm out of the house in a huff are not watching for danger.

Neither are young women in that situation. (I mean, I wasn't watching for danger any of the times I did that myself.... OK, I was watching out to make sure I wasn't hit by a bus or a tractor, depending on where it was I stormed out, but I wasn't watching for other sorts of danger.)

Ah, but the characters in question are male this time. Not that I haven't had young women storming out of a house in a huff...starting with Paks...but this time it's F-. Well, B-, but at a different time and place, earlier. This is F-, who is in full self-righteous high dudgeon when he rides away. Not paying attention. Not noticing. Focused on where he's going and who he's going to tell how stupid somebody else is.

Pity about that.
