  • 00:01:11: Every Republican in the House voted to repeal the Affordable Health Care Act. Shame on them.
  • 00:12:22: Of course, affordable health care for members of Congress has long been part of their "package." It's not their problem.
  • 08:23:50: Gray and windy here. A good morning to make tracks in the book. But then, ALL mornings are good for #writing.
  • 09:25:32: RT @robinmckinley: Fabulous. Me too RT @Writerer: I love this, by the way. Like the best birthday I never had. http://yfrog.com/h4joclj
  • 09:26:07: RT @socialtechno: Just read a book on Stockholm Syndrome. At first, I thought it was awful, but by the end I quite liked it.
  • 11:45:20: End of early spring: strong N wind, temps dropping through the '30sF, hard freeze predicted tonight, low-mid 20sF. Was nice while lasted.
  • 12:12:46: Dear Twitter: I DO NOT WANT the stupid window that says "Wondering who this is?"--if I want to know, I'll look them up. Window not good.
  • 12:12:55: RT @BacklisteBooks: Only 2 more days for the special 99 cent price for award-winning What's in a Name? Smashwords coupon code XC48J http ...
  • 12:17:24: Jury duty notice said appropriate dress to show respect for court. Weather trumps court. Wearing warm in several layers.
  • 12:19:42: Will state if challenged that it's cold, I'm old, and court should not be fussier than my church.
  • 13:32:33: Colder yet. I now have on jury clothes (long-johns under sweater and black wool slacks) and not jury shoes (fleece slipper socks). Cold.
  • 16:28:58: Book IV reaches 30,000 words and goes right on: http://www.paksworld.com/blog/ with short discussion of what this means.
  • 16:30:21: Yanno, if you demand a jury trial and then don't show up for it...the judge and prosecutor are not thrilled with you. Jury's happy, though.
  • 16:53:55: Canadian Brass's jazzy version of "Amazing Grace" has me bouncing in the chair. Hard to type. Don't care.
  • 16:56:03: "Tuba Tiger Rag" ain't bad either.

Re jury apparel - This being Texas, I imagine pressed jeans and a collared shirt would qualify. I'm 6'1", and while I haven't resorted to long johns (yet) this year, I often wear slacks and a nice sweater to work. The one time I actually made it as far as the court in the jury selection process, I was in slacks and a blouse. I don't wear a skirt or heels unless threatened with court-martial. Since I'm now retired from the Air Force, that's not a frequent occurrence :)

Oh, and the post at 06:10 is Russian spam.
