Water from the sky...

At last it was our turn for the sparse afternoon/evening shower...and it didn't just shower, it rained.   We got 1.4 inches, which with 1.7 inches last Tuesday and the 0.25 Sunday morning and a 0.4 overnight one night of slow stuff means a real rescue.  There's a little water behind the number 3 gabion,  with dragonflies zooming around and trying to oviposit even as darkness fell.   We saw a crayfish out of its hole and then it went back in.

Pindar began one of his famous odes with "Best of all things is water..."   That's certainly true after months of dry heat.
