2374 words today

81, 712 words in Book II

One of those days where writing is work.  Partly that was due to distractions and the need to keep writing even while moving around and finding ways to write in different places...I do best in one place until the words are done, but that wasn't possible today.

In addition, heard on the grapevine this morning that my editor had been let go in the vast restructuring of Random House...and she called the house this afternoon after I'd left for Austin.    Though I'm being passed on to an excellent editor, it's still a leap to change editors, especially one who seemed to "click" so well with me and my books.

The only thing to do is keep writing, so when I got home I wrote another hour.

I'm glad they aren't tossing me off the wall yet.   I can't be purely happy, though, when so many competent people are losing their jobs.
