Snippet Alert [Mar. 3rd, 2009|10:31 pm]

A new snippet is here.

This is from the second of the new Paksworld books.

This entire section may not make it into the final book, because I am trying not to multiply viewpoint characters beyond absolute necessity, but I need to write it as "primary" to be sure what happens, so reports later will be consistent.   Arianya, Marshal-General of Gird, is the POV character...she's headed  back to Fin Panir with Paks, to take another look at that necklace Paks donated when she came for training (in Divided Allegiance.)   That's the necklace Arvid gave her, that he claimed he'd found in the brigands' lair.

Does that mean we get more Arvid?

(not that he's my favorite char in those books ever, or anything. nope.)

I'm a long-standing fan. This was my 3rd or possibly 4th reading of the trilogy. It retains it's reality and complexity well. Yes, I know what happens in the end, who the Good Guys and Bad Guys are, but that doesn't break the spell. Paks' world is very real and I get totally immersed in it

And I'll try not to think of my friends Irish Terrier, who happens to be called Arvid.

OT: Stupid, IMO, giving animals human names. Sometimes you don't know if people are talking about their kids or their dogs. Today my local paper had a picture of a toddler and a Boxer, and the caption said they were "Alice and Herkules". I do hope "Alice" was the child, but you never know.
