Progress report and two (very short) snippets, one from each book, are now up at the Paksworld blog.   I'm about to fold several outlier chapters into the main book file (always a scary moment!)

The total length...well, nearly the total length because there are one or two more outlier bits...is right about 146,000 words...and it's not finished.  Naturally.  A lot happens in many places between where I am now and the end, though I can almost nearly see the end (of this one...which isn't the last of them.)

Hello. I have a question about another thing you've written.

I read Esther Friesner's Chicks in Chainmail books when they came out in major part because I was enchanted with Mirabel Stonefist and Krystal Winterborn and the rest of the ladies of the Ladies Aid and Armour Society. I didn't realise until I re-read the first one a couple of days ago that you were/ are the author of them. Did you write any books about the group/ world? *big hopeful puppy eyes*

fwiw, I like Mirabel a LOT more than I like Krystal.

Thank you, ---Kathryn Wolfe

Thanks! I'm glad you liked the LAAS. Mirabel was a lot of fun to write. I toyed with the idea of writing a full-length about her, but the longer the work, the harder it is to be funny...and I also had books on contract to write. I don't overlap projects easily. It's a background idea, though, and now I have proof, thanks to you, that *someone* would be interested in it.
