The numbers...

This may be redundant...since I'm blogging in two places, I sometimes lose track of what I said where (of course, I could go back and read everything...but naaaah.)

But this is a brag on numbers.  The species count on the place is now up to 745, thanks to the addition in the past week of one plant (water plantain), one ode (Fragile Forktail), and two fish (as illustrated in a previous post.)

That's 226 invertebrates, 208 vertebrates, and 311 plants.

And I'm not done looking, photographing, counting.

You can expect to find periodic brags about it as the numbers go up.

The latest damselfly

Here's an image of the latest odonate to show up on the place...a male Fragile Forktail, Ischnura posita.  Notice the "exclamation points" on its dorsum.   The book says they're yellow-green, but against the green of a Water Plantain, they looked bright yellow to me.   Some forktails hold still a long time, allowing the photographer to improve the shot, but this one was jumpy and flew every time I twitched...and it did not return to its previous perch.

Say what?

A friend took an online test and was told what Tarot card she was. Usually I don't take online tests (did for awhile, but it gets old)...for some reason tonight decided to. The result (supposedly I could copy and paste the stuff in the box, but what I see in the "post" box is a lot of HTML coding) says "You are the World" and "Completion, Good Reward." Let's see if this displays appropriately...well, not in the preview.  And not when I choose the HTML tab either.   So I'll now edit it and peel out the coding.

You are the World
Completion, Good Reward

The World is the final card of the Major Arcana, and as such represents saturnian energies, time, and completion.

The World card pictures a dancer in a Yoni (sometimes made of laurel leaves). The Yoni symbolizes the great Mother, the cervix through which everything is born, and also the doorway to the next life after death. It is indicative of a complete circle. Everything is finally coming together, successfully and at last. You will get that Ph.D. you've been working for years to complete, graduate at long last, marry after a long engagement, or finish that huge project. This card is not for little ends, but for big ones, important ones, ones that come with well earned cheers and acknowledgements. Your hard work, knowledge, wisdom, patience, etc, will absolutely pay-off; you've done everything right.

Um.  Sure.  Fine.  If I knew what the heck it was talking about....
