Stuff from the Sky

Rain, they said.  High probability of rain, they said.  Given our drought situation (rated "extreme") rain was certainly a welcome forecast.

What we have is a minor ice storm.

Pretty, but  not what I wanted.   Nor what the land needed.

On the feeding areas right now: white-winged doves, goldfinch, house sparrow, blue jay.  A dove just armpitted a blue jay and the jay said something rude and the dove flew off.

Can Haz Broadband!!!

Got the broadband up and working this evening, after some rather annoying hours (if you follow the directions precisely and in order, they should be written so this does not invalidate what you did before...)

WOW it's fast.   WOW it's fun.   WOW am I going to be tempted to spend even more time zipping around the 'net instead of working.

After the difficulties in the initial "authorization" process, and a long wait on the phone for tech support, who turned out to be quite pleasant,  the switchover from one computer to the router and LAN was easy and painless.  Plug and play as it should be.  Router and DSL modem flickered their lights at each other and decided to be friends.
