Mine arrived (Orbit UK edition, in Cambridge UK) via Amazon UK yesterday, I'll be starting to read it this evening. Interesting size book, it seems a tad larger than the usual MMPB size although I don't have earlier books from the same publisher here to compare (hmm, if Amazon's sizing is right then it's about 0.4cm taller than Paladin's Legacy).
The Orbit paperbacks are distinctly larger than US MMPBs, more what I think of as "trade paperback" size, though many US trade paperbacks are larger. Compared to the mmpb of _Surrender None_, the Orbit UK _Kings_ is 3 cm taller and 2 cm wider. (Measurement may be compromised by a) my copy of the US mmpb being old and possibly frayed at the page edge and b) my ruler does not have zero at the end, and holding two books level while trying to get the zero line to line up with their tops or sides is less exact than I'd like. But close.)
CONGRATULATIONS! My copy is allegedly en route from Book Depository. I'll try to get to some book shops in the next few days to get pix 'in the wild'.
Oh, good! Looking forward to them. It'll probably be the weekend before I get anything up (staring at a tomorrow that looks like a horse-race.)
I am waiting for my turn on the library's reserve list. Sadly, my book budget constraints require that actual personal acquisition waits for the paperback release.
Congratulations on release day!!!!!
Amazon US said they shipped it out today at 12pm WST (Aust)
Let me know when it shows up, if you don't mind.
I'll hold 'em while you explain in calm tones why spoilering is wrong.
Thanks! I'm having a chocolate truffle tonight to celebrate.
I'm waiting for it to arrive at my local independent bookstore. I ordered it weeks ago, but it didn't arrive in yesterday's shipment. They are tracking it down to make sure they know where it is. I'm thinking it should arrive with the shipment tomorrow.
So I (not very patiently) wait. Ditto on the throttling spoilers...
Thank you again for writing such great material, books that I read & re-read, and can't put down. And thanks for working on the next books!!!!

Re: Happy Release Day!!
(groan of dismay) Lost shipments suck large granite boulders.
Yay release day!
I managed to secure a copy last night at my local B&N - after a first store employee couldn't find the copies that Inventory said were there, a second one volunteered to take a second look, and found it!
It's been playing merry heck with my plans to Get Things Done today, believe me. And I'm in awe of how many criss-crossing plot threads you were dealing with in this one. I mean, I remember you mentioning that a while back, but it's another thing to see it in action, as it were.
Yay, for second store employee! That's the kind of person we all want working in bookstores!!
As the lucky sod who won an ARC of the book here, I've been waiting with baited breath for an opportunity to post some thoughts. I guess I'll have to wait a little longer. :>) When you start a thread where spoilers are permitted, I'll be there.
I waited two weeks last year, didn't I? At least one week. But yes, there will be a Spoiler-specific thread, clearly marked to keep people from stumbling through the door into the middle of the play.
I have to admit that I found/bought a copy of it in Forbidden Planet in London on Sunday, two days ago.
(I suppose that technically I should have waited for the proper release date, but come on. I'm only human.)
Hey, if the store puts it out, there's no reason for you to deny yourself--it's their responsibility to wait until the right day. As long as you aren't spoilering it for others, and you haven't.
TODAY!! TODAY!!! TODAY!!! SQUEEEEEEE!!!
(you deserve someone getting fangirl on your stuff once in a while.)
Thank you! Every once in awhile I can stand some fangirl squeeing. (Oh, be honest, Self: You know you like it!!)
On the Borders front, I called around yesterday to see if I could reserve a copy in store. My local (smaller) Borders didn't expect to have it, the larger mall store was able to reserve a copy for me for tonight.
So I'm going to be a happy reader, just need to finish a little more work and pick it up!
Hurray for the larger mall store. I found only one Borders outlet (Borders Express in Temple Mall) and they had only one copy, which had sold by the time I drove over there.
The electronic copy I pre-ordered from B&N was available at 12:30am. I promptly downloaded it.
I'll be picking mine up this week. The weekend should be gorgeous so I think I'll be out back under the aspen with my dogs and the book.
Oh, the shimmering of aspen leaves...and the book...and dogs...well, it would depend on which dogs. (Some dogs will sprawl happily and let you read. Others start by sitting on your foot and then work their way up to putting many pounds of large dog in your lap, and some simply wart you unmercifully and constantly: PLAY with me!)
