And here I was thinking that Google's corporate motto was "don't be evil".|
I guess they're not using the word to mean what the rest of us think it means.
I agree with keristor on the orphaned books concept. A book is either in copyright, or not. If the author or their heirs can't be found, then too bad, the work cannot be reproduced until the copyright expires.
I also think that this is grounds for a class action lawsuit by the authors of the purloined works.
