This little moth would fit on my thumbnail. The black areas are iridescent in full sun, as here--hints of blue, purple, and green. The white markings are bright white. It's called Mournful Thyris (Pseudothyris sepulchralis) but I don't see anything mournful about it. Clownish, in fact. I can see it as a masked reveler at Carnival.
