80 acres: (slight) weather change and toads

After a week of record high temperatures (both just above and just below 100F), high winds (whipping the entire tops of trees around) and low humidity, this morning we started with lower windspeeds and finally a little sprinkle of rain.

That was enough to bring toads out from under the leaf litter that's covering their burrows, so this morning I've seen several small toads hopping slowly around, sometimes appearing to follow one another.   I wonder if any of them will make it across the damp grass before it dries and get into the pond so they can mate tonight.

Now the sky's almost clear, the temp is rising again, along with the wind.
